Development Manager - Public Realm - FTC

Purpose of the role: This is a key role whereby the jobholder will be responsible for the delivery of public realm projects across Central London as defined by our Place & Cultural Strategy. Our aim is to create and deliver aspirational places, spaces and world-class infrastructure to support the Central London portfolio. The business purpose of this role is to drive improvements in our income (sustainable and trading) and added value through the proactive application of development, public realm and urban design expertise. The jobholder will use their detailed understanding of people, cities, movement, development and public realm to lead the consistent execution and delivery of complex projects through all project stages inline with financial approvals. The role reports though Development & Project Management, and requires effective collaboration across the business particularly with the Central London portfolio and Place, Brand & Marketing team.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage public realm projects, co-coordinating the activities of all internal and external teams
- Execution and management of projects through the planning, design, and construction phases, including preparation of approval papers for all project stages and post-project reviews
- Highly organised and timely project performance reporting to multiple internal/JV stakeholders
- Identify new value, adding opportunities across the estate with a strong collegiate approach
- Prepare and maintain a programme for public realm with a clear phasing plan
- Assist the Senior Public Realm & Urban Infrastructure Manager to establish and maintain external networks within the public and private sectors to deliver public realm i.e. Transport for London, Westminster City Council, GLA, BIDs, other landowners, developers, funders etc.
- Ensure that the portfolio are fully aware of projects to enable the management of the existing customer base in a consistent manner
- Fulfil the role of the Client as defined by CDM processes and maintain H&S in line with TCE policy and statutory requirements
- Keep abreast of specific public realm activities across London and beyond to ensure that public realm projects are market leading and transformational
Knowledge, experience and skills:
- Demonstrate an awareness of market knowledge and understanding of technical requirements that inform the process of unlocking value through strategic and project public realm interventions
- Strong technical understanding of the core development and public realm processes
- Able to demonstrate financial and business awareness and understand how this contributes to commercial success
- Working capability of MS Office suite i.e. Excel, Word, Powerpoint and financial systems
- Knowledge of sustainable design approaches and new technologies and applies to projects
- Effectively communicate project sustainability in line with TCE objectives
This is a 6 month fixed term contract position
