Strategic Consents Director

Purpose of Role: The Marine Strategic Consents Director holds a pivotal position in overseeing the delivery of prioritised strategic marine consents and environmental impact initiatives as well as broader environmental compliance in line with our Marine Delivery Routemap. The role drives impact from evidence and analysis to support spatial planning and decision-making for leasing and investments across sectors.
This role will lead development of strategic opportunities to de-risk thematic consenting issues and enabling investments, identified through Marine Delivery Routemap. Working with the sectors to oversee innovative approaches to the management of sectoral project attrition, this leader will inform broader environmental regulatory change (associated with statutory consenting processes) and oversee The Crown Estate’s environmental compliance (including the Habitats Regulations) on behalf of Marine.
The Marine Strategic Consents Director is instrumental in ensuring the delivery of our overarching priorities, working with strategic stakeholders to build a shared understanding of marine strategic consenting issues, and forming partnerships to advance environmental responsibility within the Marine sectors.
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Proven leadership experience in risk management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement within the context of environmental and consenting activities for nationally significant infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of environmental impact assessment activity in the context of marine operations and development
- Proficiency in technology insights, sector knowledge, and lifecycle assessment to drive sustainability initiatives and innovation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and internal communication
- Previous people management/leadership experience
