Marine Data & Insights Director

Purpose of Role: The Marine Data & Insights Director assumes a pivotal role in guiding and prioritising the strategic approach to data acquisition, through marine survey activity commissioned by The Crown Estate, and driving data value across the seabed in line with the Marine Delivery Routemap. This leadership role champions a Safety First approach to the prioritised acquisition of Marine Survey data and use of our marine customer data to drive better insight through our Whole of Seabed evidence base, underpinning our Marine Delivery Routemap. This role will oversee all marine survey delivery plans, marine customer survey data, driving an innovative approach to our marine digital products, unlocking further value for our customers, stakeholders and business. Critical to the role is the development of strategic partnerships with innovative organisations responsible for marine data across the UK to coordinate approach, acquisition, and data usage, increasing the value of both survey activity and marine data more broadly.
Most important skills based requirements:
- HSE leadership experience and understanding associated with the management of marine survey activities
- Proven leadership experience in commercial procurement of large-scale campaigns, oversight of major programme delivery, strategic survey planning and delivery, technical and engineering input, and stakeholder engagement, aligned with HSE principles and contractor management
- Proven leadership experience in data management, data gathering, innovation, and marine evidence collection, with a strong emphasis on technological applications and insights
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of the marine sector and offshore survey work for major infrastructure
- Strong people management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and internal communication
