Purpose of Role:
Purpose for role: The Business Process Manager role is in two closely connected parts.
The first is to continue building the Business Process Management system in our Aris software. Using this software, you will build out and link up the process architecture, further establish the digital catalogue of processes, further define the rules and taxonomy within the tool, assure quality control, establish process governance and, more generally, bring the tool to its full potential. You will also help build and deliver training for Aris but also in process improvement techniques such as Lean and 6Sigma as well as supporting community building activity including LCS Lean Accreditation.
The second part of the role is run a portfolio of process improvement initiatives and projects, partnering with Crown Estate teams. In this role you will make use of the maps and other artefacts in Aris but also of Lean and other process improvement methodologies to identify, scope, quantify and manage business process improvement projects that achieve measurable business benefits.
In both parts of the role, you will work closely with teams across the Crown Estate, most notably our Digital team, partnering with them on projects that have an automation or system integration aspect as well as working with them on shared work pipelines, on capability mapping and on digital system mapping.
The role will be part of the Business Operations team and will report to the Director of Operational Excellence.
Main accountabilities:
For BPM tool
· Own and manage the Aris tool end to end from a technical and practical perspective. Design (or refine) the tool’s process library, architecture and related standards, taxonomies, rules, governance, metadata, layers etc.
· Produce 'as-is’ and 'to-be’ process maps and, where needed, ‘Value Stream Maps’ and link them up dynamically between themselves
· Create (and create standards for) process support documentation such as SOPs, how-to guides, checklists etc.
· Collect and document business requirements for digital systems, automation and other digital applications
· Identify, adapt and build training materials for process mapping and for process improvement techniques as well as for the Aris tool itself
For process improvement
· Work closely with SMEs and business stakeholders to identify and analyse business process problems
· Facilitate and conduct process improvement interviews and workshops with SMEs
· Perform process improvement analyses using Lean and other techniques and manage the ongoing project to make improvements a reality
· Design and build a system for measuring, tracking and aggregating benefits achieved by process improvements
· Help TCE apply for Lean Accreditation through the Lean Enterprise Research Centre (LERC) in Cardiff
Most important skills based requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
· Extensive experience using Aris or comparable Business Process Mapping and/or Enterprise Architecture tools such as Signavio, Blueworks, Bizz Design etc.
· Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to analyse business processes and workflows including process reengineering skills
· Lean and Continuous Improvement experience including value stream mapping · Experience facilitating workshops and focus groups
· Experience developing digital requirements and in developing instructional and procedural documentation such as SOPs
· The drive, ambition and focus on measurable business impact including understanding that technology is the tool not the goal
