Landscape Operative – The Crown Estate, Windsor Great Park
Purpose of Role:
Join the team that helps care for one of the UK’s most iconic landscapes. As a Landscape Operative at The Crown Estate, Windsor Great Park, you’ll play a hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing this historic and much-loved green space. From tree planting to turf care, your work will help ensure the Park remains a beautiful, safe, and welcoming place for all.
Main Accountabilities:
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dedicated and supportive team, working outdoors in a unique and inspiring environment. You will:
- Carry out a wide range of landscape maintenance tasks including grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree planting, and path repairs.
- Support seasonal and long-term development projects across the Park.
- Operate and maintain a variety of tools and machinery safely and effectively.
- Engage with visitors in a friendly and professional manner, representing The Crown Estate with pride.
- Follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Contribute to the wider goals of the Windsor Estate team.
Most Important Skills-Based Requirements:
We’re looking for someone who is practical, proactive, and passionate about working outdoors. You’ll bring:
- Previous experience in land management or horticulture.
- A relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Horticulture) is desirable.
- Strong awareness of health and safety in outdoor environments.
- Confidence using a range of tools and machinery (training provided where needed).
- A flexible, team-oriented approach and a willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills and a positive, approachable attitude.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Ideally, some relevant certifications (e.g. chainsaw, tractor, pesticide use)—but don’t worry, we’ll support your training if needed.
