Purpose of Role: This role presents a unique opportunity to lead the design and development of offshore wind (OSW) leasing processes for our future Leasing Rounds, shaping the future of offshore wind energy production and supporting the aim to bring to market 20-30 GW of offshore wind by 2030. The Senior Leasing Manager's strategic vision, sector expertise, and commitment to sustainability will be key drivers in achieving success and driving value for the OSW sector.
This role managing the leasing product design and delivery process, working closely with the Tender Delivery, Commercial, finance, and legal teams, as well as applicable sector teams. It leads on developing the specifications for leasing design, as well as developing business cases for new leasing and investment opportunities in the seabed which ensure lasting and share prosperity for the nation.
The Senior Leasing Manager plays a critical role in shaping the OSW leasing landscape, fostering value optimisation, driving sustainable advancements and ensuring successful tender design and delivery.
Main accountabilities:
- Lead OSW sector leasing and tender processes during the Design and Definition phases of Leasing Rounds, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and value creation, working closely with the Tender Team
- Define and shape leasing design documentation, ensuring lease product design aligns with the overall strategy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive effective contract negotiation and contracting processes. Act as key point of contact between the OSW leasing team and the offshore transmission team to oversee de-risking of grid connections for future leasing
- Collaborate closely with the Commercial team to develop robust value cases for new leasing and investment opportunities
- Work with the Tender Team to undertake tender design and delivery processes, to ensure comprehensive leasing and tender process execution whilst capturing sector-specific requirements
- Drive value optimisation efforts within leasing and tender processes, aligning with sustainability principles. Play an active role in ensuring the sustainability of projects, aligning with industry best practices and company priorities
- Leverage your in-depth OFW sector knowledge to gain insights that inform leasing design and decision-making
- Act as a driving force behind the implementation of strategic priorities, such as Whole of Seabed, Sustainability, Health & Safety, and more, for the team and the wider enterprise
Knowledge, skills & Experience:
- Proven leadership experience in tender processes, commercial negotiations and project appraisal in the renewable energy sector
- Demonstrated experience in leading strategic projects or initiatives, developing and presenting compelling business cases for investment opportunities and demonstrated ability to optimise value through innovative commercial strategies and procurement techniques
- Deep knowledge of the offshore wind sector, with experience across offshore wind project development and with insights into the latest advancements and trends. Understanding of UK grid design and energy policy would be beneficial
- Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams to successful delivery.
- Knowledge of leasing design in the renewable energy sector
- Commitment to sustainability principles and the ability to integrate them into leasing strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- Effective leadership capabilities to drive implementation of strategic priorities and foster collaboration
