We're looking for someone who’s passionate about building modern data platforms, enjoys solving technical challenges, and thrives in a collaborative environment. In this role, you’ll help develop and enhance our Azure data ecosystem, delivering high‑quality, scalable and secure data solutions that support The Crown Estate’s strategic goals.
What you’ll be doing
Designing, developing, testing and maintaining The Crown Estate’s data platform to support reporting, analytics and data science.
Applying industry best practices across development, testing/automation, CI/CD, and documentation.
Building and optimising end‑to‑end data pipelines to ensure reliability, quality and availability of data.
Analysing data structures, identifying opportunities for performance improvements and supporting continuous optimisation.
Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to understand needs and make data easily accessible and trustworthy.
Upholding robust information security measures across all work.
Staying current with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends.
What you’ll bring
Experience developing data ingestion, processing and analytical pipelines across big data, relational and warehouse environments.
Hands‑on experience with Azure technologies such as Data Factory, Functions/Durable Functions, Synapse, Azure SQL DB and Databricks.
Strong skills in PySpark, Python and SQL for building automated, high‑performing and testable pipelines.
Knowledge of Unity Catalog for secure, well‑governed data asset management.
Familiarity with deploying cloud infrastructure as code (Bicep or Terraform).
Experience working with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
A proactive approach to identifying risks and resolving issues early.
Experience with geospatial data or machine learning/AI (desirable).
