Workplace Leasing Director – Development London at The Crown Estate
Purpose of Role
As Workplace Leasing Director – Development London, you will lead the workplace leasing strategy for The Crown Estate’s West End development portfolio, with accountability for driving leasing performance across a significant, high‑profile pipeline of iconic assets. Acting at a senior level, you will shape and deliver pre‑let and leasing strategies that secure occupiers, optimise value and support the long‑term resilience of the West End estate.
You will externally represent The Crown Estate in the market, combining strong commercial acumen with deep market insight to originate demand, convert complex Agreement for Lease (AfL) negotiations and deliver against leasing, sustainability and brand objectives.
Context of opportunity / Main accountabilities
This is a senior, market‑facing leadership role with accountability for leasing outcomes across the London workplace development pipeline.
Key accountabilities include:
Setting and delivering a portfolio‑wide workplace leasing strategy aligned to Urban SBU priorities, financial targets and sustainability commitments
Leading end‑to‑end leasing activity across development and standing assets, from positioning and pricing through to negotiations, approvals and completion
Driving pre‑let activity across the pipeline, including anchor tenant targeting, sequencing and coordination with development programmes
Owning delivery of leasing performance metrics, including pre‑letting, headline rents, incentives, occupancy and leasing velocity
Acting as The Crown Estate’s sector specialist and market spokesperson, building senior relationships with agents, advisers and priority occupiers
Providing strong commercial leadership on complex negotiations, ensuring optimal terms while maintaining long‑term customer relationships
Leading and developing the London workplace leasing team, setting clear objectives, standards and performance expectations
Ensuring robust governance, risk management and compliance across all leasing activity
Using data, insight and market intelligence to inform strategy, pricing and product decisions in partnership with Development and Portfolio Management teams
Most important skills‑based requirements
Proven senior leadership experience in London office/workplace leasing, ideally client‑side, with a strong track record of pre‑let and AfL negotiations
High commercial acumen with the ability to own strategy, pricing discipline and value creation across complex development pipelines
Deep understanding of the West End market, with established relationships across the agent, adviser and occupier community
Strong negotiation capability, including managing tenants through AfL and construction phases
Data‑driven approach to market analysis, converting insight into effective go‑to‑market and pricing strategies
Ability to act as an external spokesperson and influencer, representing the organisation at senior industry forums
Collaborative leadership style, working closely with development, portfolio, marketing, legal and brand teams
Understanding of sustainability standards and their impact on market positioning and leasing outcomes
