As a key member of our Procurement Leadership Team, the Category Lead for Non-Property takes charge of non-property related spend. You’ll lead a small team, setting procurement strategy for professional, corporate services, and technology categories. Your mission? Drive commercial and contractual governance, ensuring sourcing decisions deliver best value for our Enterprise.
Main Responsibilities:
Category Strategy Development:
- Set and communicate procurement strategy for non-property related professional and corporate services supplier spend.
- Lead the development of category strategies and tender pipeline.
- Deliver defined savings targets
Trusted Advisor:
- Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders, engaging early in decision cycles to understand needs and provide value.
Procurement Transformation:
- Influence and support our procurement transformation programme, implementing best practices and enhancing user experience.
- Ensure compliance with public sector procurement regulations.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, coach, and develop the category team, fostering trusted advisor status.
- Collaborate with the Procurement Centre of Excellence manager to develop a supplier relationship management process.
Supplier Performance:
- Support stakeholders in managing and resolving poor supplier performance.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- High-level understanding of category management and leading practice sourcing processes and governance.
- Solid experience in public sector procurement
- Experience developing or overseeing category strategies for professional services spend, with knowledge of supplier sector benchmark pricing.
- Previous team leadership experience
- MCIPS qualified or working towards relevant qualifications is desirable
- Proficient data analytical skills.
- Exposure to supplier relationship management would be advantageous
