Marine Strategy Director

Purpose of Role: As the Marine Strategy Director, the role will be the central convenor for marine strategy, stakeholder engagement and marine planning policy, ensuring alignment with our Marine Delivery Routemap. This role is critical in enabling The Crown Estate (TCE) to achieve key policy goals, including Net Zero and Nature Recovery. The role will provide strategic thought leadership across the Marine SBU and lead the development and delivery of clear and positive positions on our strategic aims and policy developments to deliver the Marine strategy and business plan. The role will represent TCE with key external stakeholders (e.g. Fisheries, Navigation, MMO, SNCBs etc) as well as customers alongside the sector teams. The role will work closely with colleagues in Corporate Affairs to align wider Marine and TCE policy and with the Sector leads to drive the consistent implementation of the Marine Strategy.
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Experience developing and implementing strategy
- Demonstrated experience in policy shaping, stakeholder engagement, and compliance
- Track record driving delivery of engagement for major infrastructure or similar with multiple public and private sector stakeholders
- Thought leadership in developing and agreeing progressive policy positions
- Strong understanding of marine nature and planning policy/regulation in the UK and Europe (e.g. marine statutory planning, nature, habitats regulation and environmental impact assessment)
- Demonstrated experience of working at pace and influencing internal and external stakeholders to deliver impact and outcomes in a highly complex environment
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, enabling impactful engagement
- Familiarity with sustainability principles and their seamless integration into policies
