Purpose of Role:
To operate modern farm machinery and support the daily welfare and husbandry of livestock, maintaining high standards of animal welfare, safety and operational efficiency across the farm.
Context of opportunity / Main accountabilities:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive farming operation within The Crown Estate. The Tractor Driver / Stockperson will play a key role in field operations, livestock care and general farm maintenance, contributing to a safe, efficient and high‑quality farming environment.
Key accountabilities include:
Operating modern tractors and machinery for fieldwork, muck and slurry applications, forage operations and precision farming.
Daily livestock care including feeding, bedding, health monitoring and supporting routine husbandry tasks.
Maintaining accurate livestock and feeding records and monitoring feed stocks.
Carrying out daily machinery checks, basic maintenance and supporting audits and inspections.
Ensuring all work complies with health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across sheds, barns, yards and feed areas.
Role‑modelling The Crown Estate values and behaviours.
Most important skills‑based requirements:
Proven experience operating modern farm machinery (minimum 3 years).
Confident and safe livestock handling experience.
Full UK driving licence (Category F/tractor).
Mechanical understanding with the ability to carry out basic maintenance.
Ability to use digital tools (PCs and smartphones).
Strong awareness of land‑based health and safety practices.
Safety‑focused, reliable, adaptable and able to work collaboratively.
